Musys in Malta

the summer of 2004

For many weeks in the summer of 2004 the Musys worked hard to make the House semi-habitable. A daily diary was maintained and is repoduced here as a record of the hours spent cleaning, planning and playing..

5th July

Annie & Ed bought a house with walls, roofs and a lot of mess inside so we all went to Malta in the summer of 2004 to start the new family home.   It started in the heat and will probably go on that way.   Dad, Ma and Ed were in the advance party to clear up the mess before William came out to continue.  Work in the morning and then a little sleep and then a swim before some more work and supper.

So it started on the 5th July 2004 with a 7:15 flight from Gatwick ...

The first day was a real rush. After being met at the airport by Lyndon and Lilliane (without whom we wouldnot be here) we went to the house and kept cheerful. Then lunch at their place, which is a building site, before getting out in out little car (8.75/ day) to try and find some beds. No luck there but the most important task, the purchase of mattresses to sleep on was successful. We found a lovely little man with lots of mattresses on the road to Gudja.

6th July

So it was that the great clean up started.. Stuff to clean out, lots of stuff to clear out. Then brush, wash, brush, wash and still not all gone. But today the real job to be done was a haircut. After finding all the barbers in Zetjun were out we had a sleep before going to Birzebugga where Ed could swim, Ma could sit in the sun and Dad could have a haircut. Also bought a real englishman's hat and out to supper at Al Fresco's.

7th July

Last night we went off to Naxxar where we bought a fridge and cooker for delivery on the 8th.. It will be bliss which is a good job as we had a low point today when not only did we not have anything to cook or keep food in; we also had no water. Annie was threatening to rent a house or apartment somewhere else but a swim at Peter's Pool and another supper at Al F's put the world in a better light so we clean on..

More later so please wait awhile until I get some time.. Musy
