malta
To the north european eyes, ears and nose the islands that make up the archipelago of Malta can be a dirty, noisy and smelly place - so why do they have this fascination for the place. Probably for the sun, the history and the people.

the weather
The weather in Malta is typical Meditteranean; hot and dry in the summer, beautiful in the spring and autumn and warm and damp in the winter. If you do not like the heat then Malta is not the place for you between May and October; it is hot and can become very hot. The house has a pool, extremely thick walls and lots of overhead cover so it is always a cooler place of refuge but it is still hot. To see what it is like there now and over the next few days go to the Malta Airport site, more..
the history
The history of people on Malta is fascinating. It surrounds you all the time you are on the island in the buildings, the fortifications, the land. The article in Wikipedia is a good place to start to get a feel for what is there and includes the little known fact that Malta voted for integration with the UK in 1956.
the people
Friendly, numerous, noisy and delightful - simple really! To see what is happening there now click on the Times of Malta logo in the left column.
